The history of
Jen Tully Ceramics

How did it start

When I was 10 years old, I started hand building with clay in my neighbor's garage studio and enjoyed it enough to later take classes in high school. After high school I went on to pursue a degree in Epidemiology and work in health services research.

Fast forward to 2020, I'm adapting to an empty nest, working remotely, and looking to pick up some old past times. I took a wheel throwing class at Fountain Square Clay Center (FSCC) in Indianapolis, Indiana, and I've been creating ever since.

My creations

I like to create functional art using a combination of wheel throwing and hand building. I predominantly use porcelain clay as a canvas for surface design that plays with contrasting colors and textures. I also periodically work with stoneware refining my focus on form with a more restful surface design. Recently I've begun regular raku and rabbit hair firings, using donations from my (mostly) rescued angora bunnies.

My designs are inspired by my day to day including my garden, its pollinators, and the various members of our unintentional home-based fur and feather baby rescue.
